Commissioners Introduction and Welcome

There have been some positive changes in ASA Softball in the past year.  First and foremost, softball will be back in the Olympics in 2020.  That great news is partly responsible for changing our association name to USA Softball (of Illinois).  The new name better reflects our official designation as the Governing Body of Softball in the Americas.

Unchanged is the locale of our National Office which is Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.  In addition to hosting Executive Director Craig Cress and his staff, the Oklahoma site is also home to the USA Softball Hall of Fame.  And, of course, our Illinois Hall of Fame is in Casey, Illinois.

Our state association follows the Constitution, Code and Bylaws of the USA Softball Association of America.  The Official Guide and Rule Book of the National USA includes  all bylaws and rules.  If any direct rule conflict exists between state and national associations, the national rules take precedence.

Our organization promises another exciting summer of softball.   You will find a complete listing of our  2017 tournaments elsewhere in this brochure. And it is certainly very exciting that we will be hosting the Girls 16 and Under National Tournament in Normal, July 30 to August 6.  A complete listing of all our USA of Illinois Tournaments is found elsewhere in our brochure and on our website.

The brochure and website also includes other important information including, but not limited to our 2017 Hall of Fame inductees, our special awards recipients, our USA past state tournament champions and much more.

Good luck to all teams, players, umpires and fans.  May you have a great season of USA competition.  See you at the ball park this summer!
