Becoming an Illinois ASA Points Tournament
The Illinois ASA continues to see tremendous growth in our Junior Olympic (JO) program. A lot of our success is due to the large number of first class Illinois ASA Points Tournaments held around the state.
Thanks to our tournament directors, our youth teams are able to find competitive tournaments, held at excellent facilities, umpired by the best in the business, on a weekly basis.
The bottom line is that the Illinois ASA wants to provide the very best youth softball experience possible for each of our teams. Therefore we will continue to move forward with requiring our Illinois ASA Points Tournament sites to provide certain, consistent tournament conditions.
Therefore, the Illinois ASA will require Points Tournaments to complete the following:
- Pay a $12 per team ASA sanctioning fee at the conclusion of the tournament.
- Provide a complete order of finish so that all teams will recieve their proper amount of points.
- Agree that no other softball organizaion name or berths will be associated with this tournament.
- All umpires should be registered with the Illinois ASA prior to working an Illinois ASA Points Tournament and wear approved ASA gear.
In addition to the above the Illinois ASA highly recommends that each Illinois ASA Points Tournament facility provide the following at their tournament:
- Covered dugouts
- Water in the dugouts
- Prepare the pitching and batting area for each game
- Drag the infield at least after every other game
- Re-line the base paths and batter box every 3rd game
